Refreshing Coastal Hues Add Relaxing Mood to Family-Friendly Space!

Lets not forget the baby! The goal for this project in Tigard was to create a relaxed style, provide continuity and balance and to maximize functionality for the family lifestyle. What was lacking for this young family of four was a comfortable space in which to gather and relax together..... The kitchen, casual dining area and large family room comprised an open space. My role was to make that space balanced and beautiful, but casual, functional and comfortable. A color palette was chosen that included the owner’s new red sectional and two leather chairs.  Before picture I introduced blue, seafoam and crisp, white materials like warm reclaimed wood, recycled glass and rope for an inviting, coastal mood and style. My client had purchased a beautiful paint that was used as the inspiration for the color palette. The inspiration! A larger size area rug was purchased to balance the large sectional.  Dressers that flank t...

Styling a coffee table!

March  has been the month of “Interior Styling” for Du interiors. It is the season for change. Our mail is packed with magazine ideas. So many friends and clients are asking for help styling their home. There are basic rules to style coffee tables. You can follow these guidelines to accessorize any horizontal surface on your home (console table, end table, nightstand, fire place mantel, etc.). The rule of 3!   Styling a coffee table can be easy if you are including these three elements: Horizontal element , use a tray ( to organize all the elements) including a stack of books.  Vertical elements, like vases (natural elements  to add color and bring the outdoors in) , or candle holders/candlesticks (add ambiance such as a fresh scent to the room) . Last, an object! (Decorative accent) . The right object in an arrangement not only bridges the horizontal and vertical planes, but it is often the most interesting item, sparking conversation among guests...

A comfortable, stylish space for work!

I usually share  pictures of my work   when the project has been completed. However, this transformation was amazing so I decided to share the before and after photos with a  video  showing the design process from start to finish for this new studio. I created a  color board  to show my client ideas to compliment her vision for the space. I created a  Pinterest Board  to show the products I selected based upon her ideas and budget. Then it was time to shop.... And when it was all done....this is what my client said: "Dulce asked questions and listened, then explained ideas in a way that I could visualize before it all came together.” To see more pictures check my website  duinteriors.com Here is the video. Enjoy it! -Dulce
