If you are thinking of renovating your kitchen this summer here are some considerations when selecting cabinets if you are on a budget.

As we age, drawers are better than rummaging through those dark depths in the back.
Fewer doors and more drawers is the mantra!

Compare door styles and have a style in mind when you visit your local cabinet shop. If your goal is saving money, it’s best to have two or three options and compare costs. Door styles can make a dramatic difference in price.

Raised panel and inset door styles will almost always cost more. Shaker-style doors often cost less. Prices can vary based on the manufacturer.

Slab door fronts are normally less costly than board and they are a perfect fit with modern or contemporary kitchens.

You can save several hundred dollars by sacrificing common upgrades like soft-close drawers and full-extension slides…but they are great perks.

Oh, the joy of accessories!

Du interiors project A person can have a lovely home with nice things and it can look attractive but the overall effect is that nothing really grabs the eye.  What could make the pleasantly ordinary come alive are well-placed accessories. It is with decorative objects that a home gets its personality. Their color, form, texture and design transform a room from OK to “wow”.
