You may not believe this, but I shop for pillows more often
than I shop for clothes. I restyle our home by switching pillows around or
adding new ones at least once a week! Why? Because a good pillow renews
a room with the perspective of a contemporary artist. It's instant
gratification when pulled together.
Here are our suggestions:
Pick a color palette.
One you have chosen a favorite color, the good look begins.
Be sure your purchases fit that palette and create a visual celebration,
marrying deep and light tones. This is a crucial first step.

Vary pillow sizes.
We recommend large square, medium and smaller rectangles in
varying sizes, then layer fabrics and colors for a one-of-a kind creation.

Note: If you are mixing solids choose a variety of textures
with interesting details, like below. I am showing suede, silk velvet and mohair wool on the left and velvet, needlepoint, silk velvet and faux fur . These pillows command your attention.

Balance out colors.
Perspective is important so create a balance on a sofa or
bench. Note how both "eggplant" color flank the right sofa? If they were side by side the look
would be unbalanced. Be sure colors are peppered around evenly (see below). You can add a
throw with the same color on an opposite side.

Vary the scale of the pattern.
Be sure you are working with small and large scale
patterns. Too close and they will create visual chaos.
