February 14 is
when the florists and the candy stores and jewelry counters get lots of
attention.
However, the
intimacy of romance is often centered in the bedroom. Is yours an invitation
for romance or so neuter it’s uninspiring?
Too often for
longtime marrieds, romantic bedrooms aren’t high on the list. Maybe they should
be?
Here are some
suggestions for making your bedroom more sensuous …set the scene of snuggling
together with loving words.
Mood Lighting
Wired-in lighting …in the form of pendants, as seen here, or plug-in -wall lighting …can free up your bedside table. Help your space feel luxurious with artfully placed lighting for maximum tranquility and quality time with the one you love. Think flowers, candles, and charming frames and stay away from working in your bedroom. Pendant lights should not be bright and in your face. Think flexible wall sconces with swing arms and adjustable heights.

There can be an
overdose of metallic in your bedroom with chandeliers, floor lamps, sconces and
mirrors. Pick up more brass tones with gold, mustard yellow blankets and
pillows. Think fine linen sheets, silk pillow covers.
Draperies
Floor to ceiling
draperies not only add drama but in silk and velvet fabric they inspire
passionate thoughts. Oversize drapes lift the eye and highlight the ceiling.
They surround you in lushness.
Beddings
Sumptuous fabrics
are so cozy they invite you and your loved one to linger in each other’s arms.
Think fur throws, area rugs, very soft light bulbs in warm colors.

These can change
the mood of any room, particularly the master bedroom. As a designer, I believe
wallpaper can work for everybody! There are so many choices to create a cozy
feeling.
Don’t forget
lingerie. Chocolates. A glass of wine. Need we say more?
Inspired? I can
help you get there!
