Just ask me!
For some, clothes are their passion. For others, home decorating is what they love to do. We are introducing a new feature giving our dear readers a chance to ask questions about what goes with what, where and how. Some of you have an ”eye” for interesting decorating accessories but don’t feel sure about how to “place".
I will publish your questions and discuss solutions.
It excites me help my followers!
This month I am introducing my
readers to Jeana, and i am also giving you some advice about throw pillows. But first, I will let Jeana speak for herself.
"Hi! I'm Jeana Dahle and I have a textile
addiction that I use to curate and collect beautiful textiles from around the
world and make them into pillow covers to share with others. Growing up I some of my first memories are
of sitting under a table at the flea market of my home town with my mama and grandma
selling hand crafted items they had sewn or baked. They were the first
"makers" in my life and I absolutely loved being with them as they
created and sold their craft.
My own love for sewing started
when I was in junior high and couldn't find shorts that were "fingertip
length" and school appropriate. My mama taught me how to shop for fabric,
read a pattern, and sew my own shorts. The rest is history as they say. I love being a maker and my business has
evolved, pivoted and grown over the years to fill the needs of myself and
family through different stages of life.
I can currently be found at modern-west.com and@modern_west on Instagram where I share my passion for creating
collections that reflect my modern west style and are designed and sewn for everyday

I’ve noticed during my years of
interior design projects that pillows, in particular, can be overwhelming for
many to shop for because there are so many patterns, sizes, materials and
colors from which to choose.
Pillows help you learn about
layering patterns. In addition they are relatively inexpensive for their impact
on your furniture.
Approach patterns like the professionals. Pick a common
theme. If your pillows are united by a color, texture or a pattern, chances are
they will complement each other.
Here the common theme is the white and black pattern.

your home décor, I am just a phone call away.
Just a quick note: I will be
taking a break by traveling to Brazil and South Africa this month. As you know,
travel is my passion. I will be sharing photos on Instagram and Facebook.
What do we all have
in common when the weather turns cooler?
We don’t want to
get out from our warm beds! But is your
bedroom beginning to look tired? Now is the time
to bring a little cheer to your slumber palace. If your bedroom doesn’t need
it, think of your guest room(s). It doesn’t take a
major investment to make some changes to create a wide awake look. Step 1: I recommend starting with an “anchor
piece” like a rug. Choose colors from warm rust, browns and beiges that are
easy to find this time of year. This tangerine rust area rug creates a cozy and inviting feel to any bedroom.
The white and charcoal grey graphic rug below works well with the warm wood and leather bench and caramel accent pillows. A white textured rug for a crispy winter look with black and blue/green accents. Step 2: I recommend neutral sheets and layering your bedding with one or two accent colors. Layers
are all about warm, cozy TEXTURE! I’m picturing wool, velvet (traditional and
crushed) quilts, or soft nubby pi…
If you are like
most women, you spend a considerable amount of time in your kitchen and like
most women (and men) , a refreshing new look would lift your spirit. How do you
accomplish that and not break the bank? The answer is
You can incorporate
black and gold to any stainless steel kitchen appliances and achieve a bolder,
lived-in edge. If you are
remodeling or refreshing, cabinet pulls, light fixtures, faucets and other
hardware are the easiest ways to achieve a kitchen change and experience the
upbeat pleasure of new. While oil-rubbed
bronze and brass were the most recent haves, people are now experimenting with
a variety of metal finishes, including champagne brass and charcoal stainless. There are many
beautiful options besides the once popular brass. I like to mix finishes, and I
think my clients are comfortable with that. A client might opt for brass
hardware and a different metallic color in lighting. One of my
favorite finishes is mixing black or really darker bron…
But shouldn’t romantic settings be a part of people’s lives all
year? February 14 is
when the florists and the candy stores and jewelry counters get lots of
attention. However, the
intimacy of romance is often centered in the bedroom. Is yours an invitation
for romance or so neuter it’s uninspiring? Too often for
longtime marrieds, romantic bedrooms aren’t high on the list. Maybe they should
be? Here are some
suggestions for making your bedroom more sensuous …set the scene of snuggling
together with loving words.
Wired-in lighting …in the form of pendants, as seen here, or plug-in -wall lighting …can free up your bedside table. Help your space feel luxurious with artfully placed lighting for maximum tranquility and quality time with the one you love. Think flowers, candles, and charming frames and stay away from working in your bedroom. Pendant lights should not be bright and in your face. Think flexible wall sconces with swing arms and adjustable heights.
