Whether it’s tea for two on an island in Capri or dinner for 10 in your home, a creative table setting adds an extra dimension to the dining experience.

You can play with so many ideas, a Mediterranean theme, or Mexican or African…just about any country on the globe has cultural objects.

If you do not have the accessories to start with, begin collecting whenever you see something that would work. It’s amazing what you can find shopping on your own house if you think out of the box.

I always find something that I purchased on my travels like wraps from Africa or straw beach mat from Mexico as a table runner, bracelet from Hawaii as napkins holder, etc.

Scarf from South of Africa

Candles? Always! Add votives to take your centerpiece from day to night. You can play with colors and different heights to make the table décor interesting. You could go seasonal and use greenery in your garden or find some objects at the local nursery or your supermarket.

A little tip: You can purchase small potted plants to decorate your table top and give to your guests as a Party Favor at the end of your Party.

Whatever you choose, your guests will enjoy the extra effort you make…on Valentine’s Day so will your husband or significant other!

So if you want to take a seasonal approach to outdoor table settings. Here are 4 easy and inexpensive ideas for you to try out this summer since it looks like we won’t be doing a lot of traveling.

Make it yummy…

I love to create a beach feel when serving fresh fish from the grill. The summery turquoise napkins and votive candles invite guests to the table. You can just lay white sand along the center of your table top and scatter some tea lights and Viola!

A palm branch can serve as a table cloth – and give you a totally unique style!

The laid-back life...

This summer looks to be like no other as people return to a new normal for the season.
With our usual activities limited because of the virus pandemic, our futures uncertain, we
are more in need of a peaceful oasis than ever. Because of lingering fears about the virus, our emotional health is vulnerable and our usual restorative choices of being able to travel and recharge are limited. However, as in all things, there are ways to help us achieve our goals.Seeking a more laid-back life?http://www.scoteckley.comCould you find solace in your back yard? Style for the season

What do we all have in common when the weather turns cooler?

We don’t want to get out from our warm beds! But is your bedroom beginning to look tired? Now is the time to bring a little cheer to your slumber palace. If your bedroom doesn’t need it, think of your guest room(s). It doesn’t take a major investment to make some changes to create a wide awake look.
Step 1: I recommend starting with an “anchor piece” like a rug. Choose colors from warm rust, browns and beiges that are easy to find this time of year.  This tangerine rust area rug creates a cozy and inviting feel to any bedroom.

The white and charcoal grey graphic rug below works well with the warm wood and leather bench and caramel accent pillows.
A white textured rug for a crispy winter look with black and blue/green accents.
Step 2:  I recommend neutral sheets and layering your bedding with one or two accent colors. Layers are all about warm, cozy TEXTURE! I’m picturing wool, velvet (traditional and crushed) quilts, or soft nubby pi…

Spring Home Refresh!

Beauty comes in many forms, and there is no better place to celebrate it …and your life…than the place you call home. Especially Spring, because this season is all about renewal and rejuvenation as your eyes drink in the rainbow of colors you see blossoming all around you. Our senses are aroused by escaping from grey, cloudy days. Windows and doors are opened to inhale the sweet smell of Spring days. Here I am offering ideas for you to bring in to your home to welcome one of our favorite seasons.
COLOR ME SPRING My favorite Spring palette combines white, camel (chairs below), and soft pink or blush. They are fresh, striking – and unquestionably in season. They also provide some warmth without going too over the top, if pastel colors are not your favorites.
Another idea is using all-white to brighten your home for Spring. If you don’t wish to go all-hog, choose sheer, white curtains that welcome in the sun such as white linens and add fresh houseplants.
