This summer I shared Part One of Quarry Lake Kitchen project and here is Part two: the entry, living and dining room. ©Elle M Photography Carrie, a health coach and Michael, a physical therapist, built their home 20 years ago and called upon Du Interiors for some major updating. With Du Interior design advice they now have a house they love coming home to. We are pleased that they said the following: "Dulce's a great person to be around. The result is fantastic. The designer is now working with them to update the second floor. The design for the master bedroom has been chosen; they are waiting for furniture and other furnishing...

No worries. Here are some easy eye-pleasing design suggestions during our nesting seasons. Every season designers unveil a “new” color. Why not give it a try? For example, if your living room is mostly blues and grays, a pop of yellow is delightfully cheerful. It can be as simple as a vase full of yellow flowers or a couple of lovely marigold pillows.  Mustard orange, blue green, dusty blush or pink grapefruit  are also colors to refresh any room. © Du interiors Photos at West Elm Portland Showroom A new lighting fixture is another way to alter a room and add depth and elegance…and make a statement! “Pharmacy” lamps for reading invite attention, as do new chandeliers in your dining room and entry. A visual celebration Taking a tour of the 2018 Street of Dreams is always like opening a book for the first time. That’s because there are always so many new interpretations of interior design. This year was no exception. Six luxury homes created by five different designers showcased elements to exquisite effect. Houses combined elegant lines with effortless attitude to create a relaxed sensibility. Some rooms used tailored lines; others were simple in functionality yet elaborate in design. We saw beautiful graphic design tiles , richly textured wallpaper and commanding window shades as well as lots of black in door frames, baths, hardware and faucets. Hello again! My message to you this month centers on a goal – to update a kitchen without changing its bones, the kitchen cabinets or countertops. We were up to the challenge! As you know, what an interior designer does is reveal concepts that might not be obvious but make such a big difference. The short version is that we relocated the TV into the living room so this family of four and a lovely dog could hang out there more often …since the space was not used much. (I will share the new living room space with you in the future.
